These models are all pretty stiff, but are a starting point. This is a step by step procedure. You start drawing with your brain, but aim to draw from the heart. That doesn't happen instantly. You have to first absorb the knowledge slowly and then forget about it and let your pencil be guided by your subconscious. Not easy, and it hurts to go through the stiff period. A lot of lesser men give up during the stiff beginnings of learning something new and that's a dirty shame. Take the pain and shame like a man and get over it. You'll be so happy when your new knowledge becomes second nature. Otherwise you will be stuck, a slave to formula for life and unhappy, maybe even without knowing why. That pain and shame is essential to your progress. Embrace it. Kick the walls if you have to. But get back to the drawing board and force that stiff information into your head. Then lay awake nights obsessing over it. That's your tax for being gifted.

Sody color

I colored this ink for fun :)
I did the ink a while ago for John

It's been a while since my last post.
Just started our project at school, so I had to "re-organize" my time :).
Well, enough talking!
A brand new ink:


I didn't no what to do with Sody's shoes (it are here shoes, right?).
But I can add them if you want to.

Corrections

Sody 01 & 02 - Cleaned up!

I made some corrections John asked me for:
- Follow the original drawing more
- Highlights in her hair
- Thicker line @ Sody's eye (eyelash)
- I completely forgot George (how could I have missed him :S)
- Thicker lines @ bottom of nipples

This are the layers I made for Sody 01.

This is going to be the next one:
Pretty hard.
The pose is clear, but some parts (like hair & pants) are drawn indistinct.
You have any tips how to do this one?

Sody 01 & 02 - not cleaned up

I didn't clean it up yet, because cleaningup more than once is not nessacary I think.
Owh I now see I forgot the highlights on the hair -_-
I also am not sure about the wrinkle under her boobies

UPDATE

Pretty rough drawing.
I hope I inked the right lines.
On one side it is fun to ink a rough drawing because you have some "freedom".
On the other hand it is hard and it makes me uncertain.
I learned so much last months :)

Sody, Jimmy & George

New day, new ink :)



Work in progress, so there will be an update tomorrow (or later) with the complete ink.

I have to re-ink Jimmy, 'cause I forgot to save te file after finishing Sody -_# Let's blame my workingday from 1330 'til 2100 @ the Postbank-callcenter!

I need to find some kind of auto-save option in Illustrator...

UPDATE!

I finished it :)



I never inked Jimmy and George before so I had to figure out how their shapes work.
I think they are more complicated than Sody, because the shapes are not so usual.
Hmm George's face lost some depth.

WB Pitch

This drawing took me up to another level, 'cause this drawing is quite rough.
Inking it asked some comprehension from me.
So it took more time, but I learned a lot :).
Some parts maybe need to be bolder.

Another Sody

John K posted some great Sody models on his blog.
Because they're all awesome, I picked one with eyes closed and started inking.
The hair and the hands were the hardest part for me.
So many lines!
It looks like a jungle haha :)

Actually I decided to go to bed one hour ago, but I could not stand it that Sody wasn't finished yet!

Mistakes:
- Lines in the hair could be thicker
- Lines of the left hand are too thin
- I see some tangents now grrrr!
- More variation in the ponytail
- Chin is too round
I'm sure there are more...

Woesh I feel dizzy now, really bedtime young lady! (02:18AM)

Yesterday I started to ink this sketch of Sody (John K):





Now, I understand more how inking works.
But I still have problems with the constrasts between thick and thin.
Somehow I don't dare to make fat lines -_-.
Next time I try to do that better.

I also tried to avoid tangents, something I forgot in my previous ink.
