serve dog

Again not very busy @work, so this time I copied the "serve dog" of the Preston Blair book:

Not a perfect copy, but good enough to ink it:

I did this ink with my new Wacom.
I almost immediatly discovered that I had less problems with drawing lines :)
So, bye bye Graphire and helloooo Intuos ^_^

I keep on practising, it's still far from "good"!

copy - ink

It was quite calm @work, so I was glad I took the Preston Blair book with me this morning :).
I copied the tired dog:

@Home I inked this copy:

Special thanks to Katie, who posted an awesome post about inking.
And to Mitch ofcourse, who is my 24/7-feedback-generator ^_^ (he's also good at other things but I'm not going to bore you with that information ;)).

Anyway!
I think this is already much better than I ever inked before, so I'm on the right track I suppose :).
That's my opinion... what do YOU think????!!!!

line of action/pose/construction-stuff

I did some stuff from the line of action lesson of the Preston Blair book.
Still hard, but I keep practising!
My scanner is pretty crap, so my lines look very weird.
Well... they are not nice, pretty or beautifull, but not so weird as they look now!
Anyway.
SHOOT!
I NEED IT!

Squash and Stretch 2

I've been away for a while...
But I drew this one 2 weeks ago and forgot to post it!

I noticed that I haven't forgotten anything I learned, so that's great :).
The biggest mistake I made is that I drew the head not wide enough.
But I think the stretching went fine :).

I really want to make more time for drawing and I hope that that becomes real

Stretch & Squash 01

I tried some stretch & squash stuff of the Preston Blair book this evening. I drew pretty quick again & tried to be more sketchy than I'm used to (but it's very hard for me).

First the basics ofcourse:

When I started drawing the details, I noticed that the left sketch had to wide cheeks, so I fixed that.

The more detailed dogs & the original:

I couldn't make a overlay, because Photoshop didn't want to open the file -_-. But I think everybody can see the differences.

Tomorrow more stretch & squash stuff I think ^_^

Lucky Ducky

Before I went to bed, I drew Lucky Ducky (Tex Avery).
I'm a little bit tired & I drew pretty quick, but the result is not as bad as I expected.

I started with a basic construction:

And then drew the rest.

The proportions of the body & the head are good ^_^.
Even the direction of the body and the cheeks is correct.
But the feet and the beak (& some other details) of Ducky is not right.

But I'm quite happy the overall proportions are alright.
Turning off MSN helps a lot!!!

Bad, bad, bad!

I copied some drawings from the Preston Blair book again. I need to do that much more, 'cause it not went zo well this time:

I still have problems with ears o_O. The shape of the cheeks are not right too.

The face isn't wide enough. The left side fits, but than the right side doesn't. I also made a mistake in the shape of the eyes & the upper lip.

Whoo the upper part of the mouth fits perfectly, even the teeth! But I stretched the other part of the mouth too much. His head is too small too.

I drew very slow, which I don't want to do! & I wasn't really concentrated when drawing. I need to shut down MSN when I'm drawing ^_^

I think I need to practice more construction, proportions and shapes at the moment to get better. What do you think?

Keep it simple

I tried to draw Top Cat from this exercise.I think it's very bad & decided to practice some easier constructed characters (with more ovals/circles).
Special hates to my eraser & pencil sharpener: they were not so nice to me this evening :(

Finally an update!

Finally i had some time to practice again. I searched on some blogs for modelsheets of characters & started to draw... and draw....and draw :). This is the result of one day, only the first one is of last week.
