Powerpuff Girls

I wanted to draw the Powerpuff Girls in my own poses + a character in the same style. So, I ended up with a Powerpuff Harmke presented by the other Powerpuff Girls :)
First I drew it on paper with a pencil, than vecorised it in Adobe Illustrator.

Craig McCracken

Today I drew some stuff from one of my superheroes of all time: Craig McCracken.
I've drawn it with pencil first and after that i colored with the few markers I have left (I gave all my markers away 2 years ago -_-)
The Fosters Home for Imaginairy Friends drawing is inked with a fineliner.
The Powerpuff Girls are inked with a brushpen.

Hope to do more non-graduation drawing, it feels good :)

WIP2

I tried to add shadows and highlights in Photoshop on a character I created in Illustrator. First time I actually did this haha. I'm not sure how to add shadows/highlights to the tail...

Bugs

The first time I EVER tried to copy Bugs Bunny. I first started with the blue lines to set up the drawing:

It's been a while

I copied some stuff from the Preston Blair book to practise more at proportions. I sure need to practise this kind of stuff more often!

A jump with the help of the Animator's Survival Kit. At some point I think it's a little bit stiff. Next time I'll add more squash and stretch :)

Skip

SKIP-WARPZONE!

Experimented with a small skip.
Not completely like I wanted it to be, but fine for now :)

New stuff!

First a walky ^_^
Because the bunny I'm going to animate has short legs and some what big feet, I tried this out:
WARP!
I had some troubles with uploading, so that's why it's in a link...

Then, a sketch of Mick (the bunny of Mitch' parents)

And probably the final sketch of how Mac is going to look like in the animation! WHOOOHOO!!!

Dubble Bounce Walk

Pretty weid walky this is haha.
Like to do it for myself too!
Nevermind...

Next time I'll try to keep the proportions right too.
Now the body and legs are all morphing around -_-
Pretty hard...
I also think that the UP-position is not extreme enough, because you don't really see it... well, a little bit but I think it needs to be more UP :) (or the DOWN more down....)

It's a walk on 16 frames.
Twice as much frames than the previous two.
I don't think this is harder, it only takes a little more time :).
The effect of a walk on more frames is that it looks more relaxed.

walkcycle beta ;)

First time i created something like this.
The walkcycle is on 8 frames (12fps)
I prett enjoyed making it, learned a lot!

NEW!
Second one:

Pretty funny walk.
Used Animator Survival Kit to create it (and the first one).
I didn't completely follow the example of Richard because like to do things a bit different some times :)

Sody, Jimmy & George

08-08-08
New day, new ink :)

Work in progress, so there will be an update tomorrow (or later) with the complete ink.

I have to re-ink Jimmy, 'cause I forgot to save te file after finishing Sody -_# Let's blame my workingday from 1330 'til 2100 @ the Postbank-callcenter!

I need to find some kind of auto-save option in Illustrator...

15-08-08
UPDATE!

I finished it :)

I never inked Jimmy and George before so I had to figure out how their shapes work.
I think they are more complicated than Sody, because the shapes are not so usual.
Hmm George's face lost some depth.

Another Sody

John K posted some great Sody models on his blog.
Because they're all awesome, I picked one with eyes closed and started inking.
The hair and the hands were the hardest part for me.
So many lines!
It looks like a jungle haha :)

Actually I decided to go to bed one hour ago, but I could not stand it that Sody wasn't finished yet!

Mistakes:
- Lines in the hair could be thicker
- Lines of the left hand are too thin
- I see some tangents now grrrr!
- More variation in the ponytail
- Chin is too round
I'm sure there are more...

Woesh I feel dizzy now, really bedtime young lady! (02:18AM)

Harmke 1.5

Black or Color?
I think there should be more contrast between the line & fill color @ the skin.
Gonna work on that

Sody

Yesterday I started to ink this sketch of Sody (John K):

Now, I understand more how inking works.
But I still have problems with the constrasts between thick and thin.
Somehow I don't dare to make fat lines -_-.
Next time I try to do that better.

Edit:

More fat lines this time!
I also tried to avoid tangents, something I forgot in my previous ink.

For the people who don't know Sody:

serve dog

Again not very busy @work, so this time I copied the "serve dog" of the Preston Blair book:

Not a perfect copy, but good enough to ink it:

I did this ink with my new Wacom.
I almost immediatly discovered that I had less problems with drawing lines :)
So, bye bye Graphire and helloooo Intuos ^_^

I keep on practising, it's still far from "good"!

copy - ink

It was quite calm @work, so I was glad I took the Preston Blair book with me this morning :).
I copied the tired dog:

@Home I inked this copy:

Special thanks to Katie, who posted an awesome post about inking.
And to Mitch ofcourse, who is my 24/7-feedback-generator ^_^ (he's also good at other things but I'm not going to bore you with that information ;)).

Anyway!
I think this is already much better than I ever inked before, so I'm on the right track I suppose :).
That's my opinion... what do YOU think????!!!!
